Stasiu's first (bucket) bath

It's already been a while, but the pictures were still waiting: Stasiu's first bath. Apart from the hair washing, he did seem to like it. We'll see if the likes the bath tub as much as Nina does.

Nutella Nina

Freshly baked bread with Nutella, that's what Nina likes. But how to open the jar? It won't be long before she figures it out.

Sleeping Stasiu

Sleep is what babies do most of the 24 hours in a day. Then why is it that all parents to newborns are so sleep deprived :)

Nina with Opa & Oma

Nina had a wonderful time with her opa en oma around. Everyday they went to the playground (either outdoor or indoor), for walks in the Bugaboo or for games on the deck. All these activities make you hungry, so sometimes they took Nina for a treat at McD!

Stasiu and Opa & Oma

Exactly a week after Stasiu was born, opa and oma came to the USA to visit and help. It was great to have them over and they got to know Waukegan on foot a little better as the weather was not too bad so plenty of time of walks to the park and around the neighborhood. But most of all plenty of time to cuddle little Stasiu and play with Nina of course.

Stasiu and Nina

On Saturday 11 April, Nina met her little brother for the first time. There were lots of kisses and hugs, but then it was time for hide and seek.

Stasiu going home

After two nights in the hospital, Stasiu and Anita went home to Waukegan on Friday April 10. Stasiu was dressed up in his going-away-outfit, had to get rid of his 'alarm-device, exchange his comfy little crib for a carseat and went to meet his new house friends, the cats, for the first time. He slept through the whole event!

A few more pictures of little Stasiu

Stasiu and his mom are doing well. Maybe we can go home already tomorrow... Then Nina will have the chance to meet her little brother for the first time.

Upton park playground part 2

Upton Park playground part 1

Nina had a great time in the park playground at the end of our street. We'll be spending a lot of time there this coming spring and summer.

In the swimming pool with daddy

Daddy and Nina are both member of the same fitness club, where they have a great indoor and outdoor pool. To get ready for the summer, they take a dip every week. A first Nina was not so sure about all that water, but now she's splashing around like fish!

Outdoors over the weekend

The weather was good to us over the weekend so finally an opportunity to get some real fresh air. No playing in the grass yet, but on the bike is almost just as much fun.

St. Patrick's Day Chicago 2009

It was not really St. Patrick's Day yet, but here they celebrate it the Saturday before the actual day so off we went downtown Chicago to see the river coloured green, Irish green that is, and people dressed up in green, lines outside pubs, green beer etc. Nina had a great time and even got herself a temporary green tattoo: not bad for a not even 1.5 year old girl!

Nina and her phone

Toy phones are only OK, mama's phone is the real thing and just so much better. Nina can talk for hours to her imaginary friend on the other side of the line in a language only they can understand. She loves it!
