Polo

Last Saturday I took my camera and went to see my first Polo match: La Dolfina vs La Aguada in the Argentine open 2011.
It was sensational to see some of the worlds best polo players (Adolfo Cambiaso, the Novillo Astrada brothers) play basically around the corner of where we live in Palermo.

First day of Spring

The first day of Spring, Nina and Stasiu were asked to come to school dressed up. No need to ask them twice. After a thorough round of going through all the outfits, Nina stuck with her first choice of Cinderella and Stasiu opted for Teletubbie Tinky Winky. Armed with treats for the school picnic, they went to see their friends and celebrate!

Cycling in the park

Beautiful spring weather just makes you want to go outside! And what better place to be than the park; especially when you have a cool new bike like Nina. Time to show it off! Stasiu's Radio Flyer could barely keep up so it won't be long before we'll have to expand the bike collection.

Nina's 4th Birthday!

Nina is a big girl now: 4 years old! The much anticipated birthday started early in the morning with a lot of presents in the living room. Everything Hello Kitty was welcomed with a 'Oh, wow!' and the big girl's bike eventually, too. In the afternoon Nina had invited all her friends from school for her party in a our neighbouring restaurant for a pizza work shop. All kitted out with chef's hats, aprons and rolling pins, they had a great time making and shaping the dough and then making the pizza ready for the oven. Of course the pizzas were delicious! Then it was time for the meringue Hello Kitty cake! While the parents enjoyed their dessert, the kids were diving onto the floor to make sure all the pinata sweets would end up in their pocket/mouth :) Overjoyed with the Hello Kitty rolling back pack she got as a present from her amigos, Nina went home a very satisfied little lady!

Yes, they do still exist....

Erasure on tour in South America. Something that can't be missed by any serious music lover. Their Buenos Aires concert was immediately sold out so a second concert was quickly planned to accommodate all fans :)

Was a great evening and we had a lot of fun!

Iruya

Our final destination before heading back to Salta was Iruya. A small village that can only be reached via a 50km unpaved road full of hairpin curves. The views from the village were fantastic. We found out that probably the highest chute in South america was located in this little village: Anita gave it a try...

Salinas Grandes

On our way from San Antonio to Purmamarca we made a stop at the Salinas Grandes: more than 8000 square km of salt desert.
We drove the car on the salt, put on our sunglasses and went out for a walk...

Salta vacation

We just returned from a short vacation in the Salta and Jujuy provinces of Argentina, just south of Bolivia. We flew from Buenos Aires to the Province Capital Salta where we stayed the first night and rented a car. The next morning we drove to the a nice little village at the foot of the Andes called Cachi. From there we continued to a small old mining village called Sant Antonio de los Cobres located at 3800 meter above sea level. After that to Purmamarca from where we took a spectacular drive to the secluded village of Iruya. From there we drove back to Salta from where we had our return flight the next day.
